Shot Flier day is for YGRC members and YGRC Field Class Participants - Please note space may be limited and preference will be given to YGRC members.

WHAT: Shot fliers (Ducks) - Maximum of 2 fliers per dog, and 2 dogs per participant.            

WHERE: West Thompson Dam Site, West Thompson, CT

WHEN: Saturday, 11 May, 2024 starting at 8:30am and running till mid-late afternoon. 

COST: $35 per bird plus an event fee of $10 per handler. 

DEADLINE: Pre-payment and entry form are due by midnight 4 May. 

Entries received after the 4 May deadline will not be accepted.

NO EXCEPTIONS. No refunds after the closing date.   

Other Information:

• Bitches in season will be allowed to run. If you bring a bitch in season to SFD, please notify the Marshal and the running order will be adjusted to allow you to run last. 

• There will be the opportunity to run your dog(s) in blind retrieves. Your dog should be able to complete a simple blind retrieve.  

• Regarding Covid: Shot Flier Day will follow the AKC Best Practices, State of Connecticut Guidelines and USACE requirements. Masks must be worn if required.  This information will be provided with the Premium participants in SFD receive.  

• Please provide your own lunch, drinks, chairs, shade, sun block, water for dogs, and especially mask, hand sanitizer, hand held radio, whistle, hearing protection & duck call. Due to Covid there will be no sharing of personal equipment.

• YGRC will provide all that is needed for a test setup: Thunderguns, popper guns, blinds, birds, handler gun, decoys, live gunners, wingers, etc. 

• We do need your help! Please plan to stay for the full day so we can rotate workers. There will be land and water series with a predetermined running order and working order for each. Abilities of dogs/handlers will be mixed in each group.
