OBEDIENCE SKILLS FOR FIELD TRAINING WORKSHOP
Interested in earning your dog’s first AKC Junior Hunter (JH), WC, or WCX title?
Whether you’re new to field training or looking to have a better understanding of the obedience skills
needed for success in field events, this beginner-friendly class will teach you and your dog the skills needed
for AKC hunting tests and GRCA WC/X titles.

WHAT THE WORKSHOP IS ABOUT
This two-part workshop focuses on the foundation obedience skills needed for field training:
● Getting out of the car under control
● Moving on leash in a distracted environment under control
● Holding blind behavior: entering, waiting in, and exiting a holding blind under control
● Encouraging the retrieve, introducing the hold, and the required retrieve
● Sit at the line under control

EVENT DETAILS Dates: Please note this is a 2-part workshop. You MUST attend Saturday’s session (without your dog) to participate with your dog on Sunday! Session 1: Saturday 9:00-1:00 (indoors, handlers only): Learn the concepts and techniques you’ll use to build your retriever and your confidence as a handler. Session 2: Sunday 9:00-3:00 (outdoors with dogs): Practice those skills with your dog in small groups with instructor guidance, preparing you to get the most out of YGRC’s spring classes.
